Ever since I was just a little boy, I can remember sitting down to write Valentine’s Day cards to all my friends and then bringing them to school in my backpack to do a little Valentine card exchange. It was a pretty big deal. Especially if you forgot someone or if they forgot you. I can remember going to the store to buy those little cards with all the heart stickers and then writing a note on the back of each and every one. Of course, I would then carefully seal the little red envelopes so that no one could see what I wrote except the person getting the card. As I grew up, I always did this every Valentine’s Day, and it became just one of the little things I do every year. Exchanging Valentine’s Day cards is so important cause its let’s the special people in your life know that you are thinking about them. I don’t see it as just a holiday for lovers or companions, but a time when you can reach out to all the special people in your life to remind them just how special they are. After all, it’s important to keep yourself surrounded with good, positive people that will keep you growing in the right direction. This year, I was especially thankful on Valentine’s Day, when I sat down to open up my Valentine’s Day cards from good friends. So yes, to me Valentine’s Day not just about “a relationship” but rather “the relationships” you have with those special people in your life. Thank you to those who took the time to write to me again this year.
